The Edinburgh Festival is under way and as people run from show to show trying to take in as much as possible we have noticed that this year’s festival definitely has a family feel. There is a huge number of shows aimed towards kids and family so we thought that we would give you a run down on some shows that you should try to get along to if you are looking to keep the little ones entertained.
If you have a child that just loves to dance then you should get them along to Baby Loves Disco. This is the original dance club for under sevens. Real club DJs spinning disco classics are guaranteed to get little booties moving and grooving. Learn streetdance moves from our StepItUpDance instructor MC, plus free face painting, dressing-up corner, chill-out zone, kids activity sessions, healthy snacks s and a licensed cash bar for mum and dad. It is meant for children but we have a sneaking suspicion that many of the mums and dads that go along will find them selves toe tapping along at the least. Baby Loves Disco is held in the Electric Circus on Saturday and Sunday from the 11th – 26th.
The Edinburgh Festival has a huge amount of comedy going on but many of the acts are not suitable for children. This is where Comedy Club 4 Kids comes into play, giving the children the opportunity to see some of the best comedians do routines that are adapted to make them child friendly. The comedy club takes place daily at the Bongo Club and lasts for an hour. A great way for children to get introduced to some great comedians without the worry that there may be a unsuitable material for them.
It’s a well known fact that kinds love bubbles, but you have not seen bubbles until you see Louis Pearl: The Amazing Bubble Man. His show has been wowing audiences around the world for almost thirty years and he creates bubbles that you will not believe, from trampoline bubbles to smoke filled bubbles even centipede bubbles. The show is a mixture of music, comedy and audience participation. You can catch the show at Assembly in George Square, it is daily at 12.05.
These are just a small selection of the kids orientated shows at this years Edinburgh Fringe Festival there are so many to explore that you will be able to find something that will entertain your kids.
