A lot of people steer very clear of ordering margaritas at cocktail bars, mainly because of their fear of tequila. Tequila is often considered as a ‘shooting’ spirit and for that reason it isn’t always thought of as a popular cocktail spirit base.
I however adore margaritas and could drink them all day long. A classic margarita consists of tequila, orange-flavoured liqeur, lime juice and a dash of sugar or agave syrup. It is usually served in a salt-rimmed glass and there are a number of popular variations of the classic, on the rocks (over ice), frozen (blended with ice) and straight up (without ice).
But there is so much more to margaritas! The flavour combination means the taste is perfect in so many other forms, check out these awesome margarita flavoured creations!
