Being a diabetic, doesn’t mean that breakfast has to be boring meal! Why not make it a bit more interesting and something to look forward to? You need to make sure your breakfast keeps you going through out the day as well as being healthy and nutritious. So the first in out diabetic recipes special is a breakfast meal…
Breakfast: Apple and Cranberry Oatmeal
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of semi-skimmed milk
- 1/2 cup of apple juice (unsweetened)
- 1/2 cup of quick oats
- 2 tablespoons of dried cranberries
- 1/2 small chopped apple
- 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon for added sweetness
- Artificial sweetener
Recipe
Put the milk, apple juice, oats, cranberries, apple & cinnamon in a medium-sized saucepan and heat up until it starts to boil.
Once it is boiling, put the lid back on and reduce the heat to a medium-low heat and simmer until the oatmeal is at your desired consistency and stir it all.
Once you are happy with it stir in the artificial sweetener and ENJOY!

Just because you have diabetes, doesn’t mean you can’t have lovely treats, you just need to balance it all out. For example you can have some diabetic chocolate as a snack in the afternoon, as long as you go for an energetic walk later on!
