Cold, dark nights. Stresses of Christmas. Does it feel like it might all be getting on top of you? Well at CYB we think you need to take a moment, breathe in and sing it out!

Christmas choirs are beginning to warm up the larynx and so should you. For a nice classically Christmas night it can’t be beat and we thought we would have a look at events up and down the country and also some of the songs so you can get your practice in before the big night.

We are starting in St. Pauls in Knightsbridge, London. This is a great gathering on the 16th of December that is very well attended and also promises the appearance of a few celebs to do their Xmassy turn for the year. This service also helps to raise money through charity donations so not only will you be having a good night you will also be helping out others less fortunate than your self. a total Christmas WIN.

Moving a little bit North into Cambridgeshire there is the amazing Ely Cathedral. The Carol concert here is on the 22nd of Dec and will help to celebrate the 900th anniversary! Again a chance to get involved  in some festive singing in a truly stunning location.

As we keep moving up the country there is a singing service in York. This event will be a choir spectacular with both the boys and girls choirs singing together on the 19th, 22nd and 24th of December.

There are many more events happening all over the country, we have put together a map of services up and down the country.

Click the map to see more detail.

It is the music that makes these services so festive. There may be classic hymns being sung or perhaps something a bit more modern but it is the participation of the group singing that will help to raise your spirits and give you that festive glow. We thought about what hymns/songs we would want to sing at our own CYB Christmas Carol extravaganza and we put together a playlist to get you in the mood. It is a bit of a mixed bag with some very traditional and some not so but we hope that you will enjoy.

So we have the songs all sorted out but we thought that you could still be needing a bit more inspiration to really let yourself go and sing up to the highest rafters so we put together an image collection of some carol service imagery, taking into account some of the most stunning architecture that can be found in the UK’s cathedrals and churches up and down the country.

Do you have any plans to attend a carol service? Do you know where there is a really special service that we have missed on our map? Any comments or suggestions please put them in the space below.
