Sometimes beautiful things can be found in unusual places. As advertisers use every sense to help your brain make positive associations with their products it’s logical that commercials would feature some amazing tunes. Plenty of other people have noticed these and have isolated the beauty and share it with the internet. Here are some of our favourite acoustic versions of songs from commercials.
British Airways – To Fly To Serve
Watching this advert for British Airways, perhaps you would be too distracted by the sweeping aeronautical imagery and inspirational voice-over to even notice the background music but it’s pretty special. This acoustic piano version brings this simple yet affecting piece into focus.
Match.com – I like old movies
Aren’t they cute and not even remotely annoying? The Match.com advert showed that love could be found in unusual places. Taken out of the music shop setting you can still feel the love through these talented musicians.
John Lewis – Your Song
John Lewis Christmas adverts are always a resplendent feast of gifts and products usually accompanied by a cool cover version. Last year saw Ellie Goulding take on an acoustic guitar version of Elton John’s “Your Song” resulting in a raft of YouTube covers including this one.
Lloyds TSB – Eliza’s Aria
You know those adverts with the funny little animated people going through life but you never remember what they are advertising? Well they’re for Lloyds TSB and they promise to be with you “for the journey.” The tune is actually from Elena Kats-Chernin’s ballet Wild Swans but seems very much at home on the piano.
BT Infinity – Corner
BT‘s high speed internet advert shows shooting stars of fibre optic awesome landing on Earth. Those special effects heavy images were enhanced by the beautiful “Corner” by New Jersey songstress Allie Moss as played here by Philippa Barber. It’s pretty.
