As summer fades into the distance, so does your hard-earned tan. To makes things worse autumn brings its own brand of challenges for your skin.  The wind and the rain are no friends to skin care so you’re going to need a little help to keep your youthful glow. Here are our top tips for staying radiant through the colder months.

Don’t forget the sun

While the weather is colder, it’s easy to forget about the sun but it can still damage your skin. If you are going to be spending your time enjoying outdoor pursuits then make sure that you protect your skin with at least SPF 15. You could even try a foundation with added sun protection and cover two bases at once.

Moisturise

The summer sun can dry out your skin, highlighting the appearance of lines and wrinkles so make sure you hydrate before winter comes.  Tailor your moisturising regime to your skin type: for normal skin, use a light gel or oil free cream; for dry skin use something more intensive. Always make sure you give moisturiser at least ten minutes to soak in before applying make-up.

Take care of your body

Although autumn is not as dehydrating as the summer, it doesn’t mean you should drink any less water. Staying hydrated allows your body to flush out toxins, leaving you with problem-free skin. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables to provide your skin with all the vitamins and minerals it will need to meet the challenges of the colder months. Sweat acts as a natural moisturiser for your body so resist the temptation to stay indoors and do plenty of exercise.
