We all want a winning smile but over time teeth can lose their natural colour. You don’t have to spend thousands on expensive cosmetic treatments to bring back the shine. Here are some of our favourite natural methods to restore your smile.
The power of fruit
We are often warned that berries can stain our teeth but strawberries can provide a great whitening method. Take one strawberry cut it, rub the slice over your teeth and let the malic acid do the work. If strawberries aren’t your thing then get a shiny smile with citrus. Take an orange or lemon and bite down on the pulp leaving it in contact with your teeth for a couple of minutes. Use these techniques sparingly as prolonged exposure to the acids can damage enamel.
Baking Soda
After you have brushed your teeth then you can add some more sparkle by using baking soda. Put some on the end of your toothbrush or mix in with your regular toothpaste and work it into your teeth for around 5 minutes. Baking soda has properties that will help to remove plaque deposits and stains. For extra shine you make your own whitening toothpaste using the powder together with either a little lemon juice or strawberry pulp. Make sure that you rinse thoroughly after use.
Simply Natural
Water is the most natural cleanser so make sure you drink plenty of water to keep your teeth rinsed regularly. To maximise the impact you should cut down on your potentially staining intake of tea, coffee and fizzy drinks.
These techniques can prove effective but the best way to keep smiling is with regular brushing, flossing and dental check-ups.
