Fed up of trying to fit your pear shaped body into an hourglass shaped hole?…Finally it seems that at least one clothing retailer has come to the realisation that not all women are the same shape. It has been reported that Evans, the leading retailer for Plus sized womens clothing, is no longer going to be offering clothes just in sizes 14-32 but will also be labeling according to shape, making it easier for women to find clothes to flatter their shape whether busty, apple, pear or hourglass.
This change has come about after Evans conducted a survey of 5,000 woman, it also became apparent that woman are not always aware what shape they actually are, with many believing themselves to be an apple or pear when in fact they have the small waist of an hourglass shape. For this reason Evans’ big change brings not only a new labelling system but also intensive training for staff in all of it’s 300 stores. Staff will be able to help customers identify what shape they are and direct them to the most flattering clothing for their shape!
Along with it’s existing ranges for taller and shorter women, this new collection means that Evans will really be catering for women of all shapes and sizes in the plus sized category! Providing a much more bespoke customer focused service which shows a genuine empathy and understanding of the trails and tribulations of being a woman. Available in Evans stores in the Autum if this new hands on service proves to be successful, as I’m sure it will be, hopefully others in the Arcadia group may choose to follow suit. If retailers such as Dorothy Perkins, Top Shop and Miss Selfridge all adopt this new shape aware attitude the High Street looks set to be an even more women friendly shopping environment!
